On
Sunday the Kier Scotland & North East team took the 2020 baton from
Edinburgh to Glasgow. A team of hearty cyclists, Derry Barton, Clare Tait,
Alasdair McFarlan and Alasdair’s wife started from the Edinburgh College of Art
project and made their way to Kilsyth – a not insignificant 40 odd miles,
supported all the way by Stuart Gibb in the support bus. The spectacular route
followed the canal taking in tow paths, tunnels and more than a few dog
walkers.
All
the riders successfully completed the journey with Alasdair commenting ‘I’ve
never ridden 40 miles on a bike before and I’m never doing it again!’. The team
of cyclists successfully handed the baton over to a team of salty sea dogs who
canoed on towards Glasgow. Chris McGhee, Manni Ferguson, Laura Ritchie and
Michelle Ross set off for a pleasant paddle, although some were more
competitive than others!! Fortunately nobody got wet and all enjoyed a gentle
afternoons canoeing.
Next stop……the Stepps office and Glasgow College of Art.
