On Saturday morning
the Aberdeen team officially completed their section of the Kier 2020
Challenge, on behalf of the Kier Scotland & North East Business Unit. The baton was handed over to the Glasgow team at the Dundee Fire Station project. A massive congratulations to all the team in the Aberdeen Office, a great job well done.
This left the guys the minor task of transporting the baton from
Dundee to the Edinburgh College of Art project, some 61 miles away. Richard
Crowther and Michael Naylor undertook this task, ably supported by Tahir Sajad
and Wallace Hulme. The weather was kind, if a bit chilly as the team crossed
the Tay Bridge into the Kingdom of Fife (not really a Kingdom…or Fiefdom), the
epic ride took in the banks of the river Tay and the heights of the Lomond
Hills Regional park before crossing the Forth Road Bridge, complete with the
new Queensferry Crossing in the background. 3,400 feet of climbing over the
course of the day certainly tested the legs, and the resolve. Arriving in to
Edinburgh in glorious sunshine the team were able to hand duties over the teams
cycling and canoeing their way to Glasgow on the Sunday.
Well done Aberdeen !! first team to complete their section of the journey - Richard great to see you've got the baton again :-)
