Getting wet at Waterbeach

The third day of Eastern's leg of the route began early at the ARM site in Cambridge. Volunteers from ARM and the site team warmed up for the 5.4 mile run to Plot 270 at the Cambridge Science Park.

At Plot 270 Kieran (aka Luke Gough) hopped on his rickshaw to ride the baton to the Waterbeach office.

A short climb over the bridge into Milton and the rickshaw picked up a passenger, our 2020 organiser, Tori Shepherd.

The rickshaw arrived at the Waterbeach Office to cheers from the Eastern team and Highways.

Kier Chief Executive Haydn Mursell jumped in the rickshaw for the passing of the baton and a group photo to kick off the Waterbeach 2020 Challenge event.

Paella was served and activities opened. The office enjoyed games of Crazy Golf, Lawn Darts, Croquet, Penalty Shoot-Out, Rugby Toss and we must not forget The Stocks.

Just as the rain began to pour everyone took a short break from the day's activities to wave off our next group of cyclists. Volunteers from Eastern, LSI Architects and Integral took off for their 66 mile ride to the Norwich Office.

As the rain was soaking people anyway, the only sensible thing to do was to bring out the stocks and get more wet! Not everyone stuck to the traditional throwing of the wet sponge though.

Thank you to our volunteers: Nick Grant, Nick Tooke, Jim Cox and Andy Boutle. We hope you managed to dry off eventually.

Representatives from our four local charities joined us on the day to support us in a efforts to raise money. Pictured below (from left to right): East Anglia's Children's Hospices, East Anglian Air Ambulance and Addenbrookes Charitable Trust. Second picture: Parkinson's UK.
